Get an overview of tenants' rights to repair and safety in the home, if you support people but don't give detailed housing advice.

What this event covers

This event will cover:

  • housing status

  • rights to repair, and a home fit for human habitation

  • other safety matters, including gas, electricity and fire

  • options for taking action against landlords who don't comply

What you'll learn

By the end of this event, you’ll be able to:

  • understand how housing status affects someone's housing rights

  • explain a tenant's rights to get repairs done, and to a safe home

  • describe the main actions someone can take if there's a problem

  • support people to get the help they need

Who this event is for

You don't need any prior knowledge of housing law. The workshop gives an overview for people who don't specialise in housing and don't need to give detailed housing advice.

You might give advice on other subjects, support clients, or work or volunteer in a related role.

If you give housing advice or need more detailed training, find a course to suit you.
