Frequently asked questions

What options do I have to fund my skydive?

You have two options:

1. Raise a minimum sponsorship for your skydive
Sign up for your skydive for Shelter and raise a minimum sponsorship of £395 - £450, depending on location. You’ll need to reach your sponsorship target at least 14 days before your skydive.

2. Pay for your skydive yourself
You can also pay for your own skydive and let us know you’re fundraising for Shelter by emailing community@shelter.org.uk. There is no minimum fundraising amount.

I’m injured or can no longer participate. Can I get my registration fee refunded?

If you’re no longer able to complete your skydive, please contact Skyline directly at myskydive@skylineevents.co.uk.

Your deposit is non-refundable, but you can reschedule for free until four weeks before your jump.

If you cancel or reschedule within four weeks of your jump, you are required to pay a £50 cancellation fee. If this is within 48 hours of your jump date, this fee rises to £100.

How do I fundraise for my event?

We're here to help with any fundraising queries and are more than happy to talk through ideas with you.

We recommend starting by setting up a fundraising page on JustGiving. You can then share your page to get the word out to all your friends and family.

If you’d prefer to fundraise offline, you can download our sponsorship form so you can still claim Gift Aid.

Our top fundraising ideas include bake sales and pub quizzes. You can find all our fundraising resources here.

What happens if I can’t reach my fundraising pledge?

We’re here to support you with your fundraising as much as possible, so do get in touch with us at community@shelter.org.uk or 0344 515 1190.

There are lots of great ways to boost your fundraising, such as organising a cake sale, dinner party or film night. Should you wish to pay the remaining sponsorship yourself, we are also happy to accept personal donations.

I’m taking part with somebody else. Can we have a joint fundraising page?

Of course! You can set up a joint fundraising page and then let us know by emailing community@shelter.org.uk. The minimum fundraising target per person will still apply.

Does Gift Aid count towards my fundraising target?

Gift Aid is a fantastic way for Shelter to raise additional funds, with the UK government adding an extra 25p to every £1 donated if you’re a UK tax payer. The easiest way to claim Gift Aid is by fundraising through an online platform such as JustGiving.

It takes around 10 weeks for a Gift Aid claim to be processed, meaning Gift Aid does not count towards your fundraising pledge. However, do encourage your donors to include Gift Aid in their donations where possible, as it helps us raise extra funds.

Can the funds I raise go to a specific project?

The money you raise will go to the areas of our work that need it most. This allows us to be more efficient with your donations, meaning we can reach more people that need our help.
