Do you need an exciting adventure to look forward to in the new year? Join Shelter for the Sunrise Walk to Scotland.

We'll take on a 10-mile guided hike along the beautiful Border Ridge. Crossing into Scotland as the sun begins to rise above the horizon is an unforgettable experience. Then, we'll follow a circular route back to the start, where you can collect your well-deserved finisher's goodie bag!

This walking challenge is a chance to boost your wellbeing by getting active and spending time in nature. You'll also be surrounded by other like-minded Shelter supporters. It's the perfect way to refresh your body and mind, and set positive intentions for the year ahead.

Get sponsored, raise vital funds and be part of the fight for home.

What you get from us:

  • experienced and fully qualified guides on the walk

  • kit list to help you prepare

  • Shelter t-shirt

  • Shelter bobble hat

  • participant certificate

  • goodie bag when you return to base

Every step fuels the fight for home

A group of walkers standing on a rocky crag holding a Shelter banner, while the sun rises behind them. They are holding their arms up in a triangle shape to mimic the Shelter logo.

When you take on a walking challenge for Shelter, you're standing with people who face homelessness or unsafe housing.

  • £20 could fund a webchat, providing essential housing advice

  • £58 could answer two calls to our emergency helpline

  • £157 could pay for legal advice to help a family in crisis keep their home

Fundraising for Shelter

Set your own fundraising goal when you sign up for this unique challenge. Be ambitious! Every pound you raise will help defend the right to a safe home for everyone.

To start, we recommend that you set up a fundraising page on JustGiving and ask friends, family and colleagues to sponsor you. You can also organise an event such as a bake sale or quiz.

Our friendly team are here to support you with your fundraising, answer questions and discuss ideas.
