Just 24 hours. Three mountains. One unforgettable adventure. Are you ready to push your limits and defend the right to a safe home for everyone?

Join Shelter for the National Three Peaks Challenge. In this legendary test of endurance, you'll climb the highest peaks in Scotland (Ben Nevis), England (Scafell Pike) and Wales (Snowdon) — all in 24 hours.

You'll be part of a small, committed group, united by a common purpose. We ask that you raise at least £1,000 to fuel the fight for housing justice.

Preparing for the challenge

Taking on the National Three Peaks Challenge is an incredible achievement. But it's also a serious physical undertaking. In 24 hours, you'll climb more than 3,000 metres and cover around 23 miles of rugged terrain. There will be long periods of walking, climbing and travelling with limited rest.

You don't have to be a top athlete. But to make sure you can take part safely, you must prepare through regular walking, strength training and endurance exercises.

You need to be:

  • comfortable walking for several hours at a time, over steep, uneven ground

  • physically prepared for many ascents and descents, including hiking in the dark

  • able to recover quickly between climbs, with minimal sleep and rest

When you take on this challenge with Shelter, you'll get:

The summit of Ben Nevis, with patches of snow on the peak and a stunning view of other mountains in the background.
  • a professional guide to lead you as you climb towards each summit

  • minibus transport between the mountains

  • briefing calls in advance to make sure you feel prepared

  • an optional training walk

  • expert advice and support with your fundraising

Fundraising for Shelter

By signing up, you commit to raising at least £800 to help fight the devastating impact of the housing emergency. Please make sure you're confident in reaching this fundraising pledge.

We recommend you start by setting up a fundraising page on JustGiving and asking friends, family and colleagues to sponsor you. You can also organise an event such as a bake sale or quiz. See our fundraising resources for more inspiration.

Our friendly team are on hand to support you with your fundraising. If you have a question or want to discuss ideas, email community@shelter.org.uk.

  • £23 could fund a webchat, providing essential housing advice

  • £58 could answer two calls to our emergency helpline

  • £157 could pay for legal advice to help a family in crisis keep their home
