Shelter comment on Persimmon resignation
Posted 20 Dec 2017
Following the resignation of housebuilder Persimmon’s chair, chief executive of Shelter Polly Neate said: 'Housebuilders are failing to deliver the affordable housing we desperately need in this country, whilst raking in huge profits from a system in crisis.
'With more than 300,000 people now homeless in Britain, facing Christmas without a home of their own, the need for change is vital.
'Rather than pumping public money into Help To Buy, which increases house prices and inflates developers' profits, the government should fund homes that are genuinely affordable to rent or buy.'
