Shelter marathon runner

A huge thank you and congratulations to Shelter’s London Marathon runners!

Our 217 magnificent runners ran the Virgin London Marathon yesterday for Shelter.

Alongside the thousands of other amateur runners, athletes and fancy dress enthusiasts they braved the gruelling 26.2 mile course, all the way from Greenwich to triumph at Pall Mall.

Our Shelter supporters were out in force cheering our runners on every step of the way.

Not only have our runners been on the journey of a lifetime, they’re on track to raise £450,000 to help our work with families who are homeless or trapped in bad housing.

Paula McGoveney, Head of Community and Events at Shelter said:

‘We’re absolutely delighted with each and every runner that took part in the London Marathon for Shelter. Running 26.2 miles is no easy task and I hope that their friends, family and sponsors are all very proud of them – I know we are.

'In the current climate, the demand for the services we provide for homeless and badly housed people is increasing and support from individuals like our marathon runners, is vital to allow us to meet this demand. Thank you so much.’
