Repossessions Hotspots

This analysis was carried out using the Ministry of Justice statistics on claims leading to possession orders by mortgage lenders, published in May 2011. The issuing of a possession order is an advanced stage of the repossession process and while these homes are not all certain to be repossessed – some orders are suspended - there is a serious risk that they will be.

A rate of possession claims leading to orders per 1,000 private households was calculated for each local authority, using the latest available government data on numbers of private households. The tables in this report show these rates for each local authority, nationally and region by region.
