Debt and breathing space

Debt and breathing space

Learn to identify debt and use this information to advise clients on housing related issues.

What this session covers

This elearning course includes:

  • a general overview of debt

  • helping clients to formulate accurate financial statements when making offers of repayment to landlords or mortgage lenders, at court or privately

  • what are priority and non-priority debt and the risks of not paying these

  • joint debt

  • county court claims

  • how to formulate affordable offers of repayment

  • an overview of breathing space regulations

  • debt support available

At the end of this session, you'll be able to:

  • understand the Standard Financial Statement and spending guidelines to prepare budget sheets for clients

  • prepare offers of repayment to creditors, landlords and mortgage lenders to avoid court proceedings or to submit as part of court proceedings
