What this course covers
Face to face and webinar training includes:
homelessness, housing, and criminal domestic abuse law and guidance, including the Domestic Abuse Act 2021, the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, and the Secure Tenancies Act 2018

stalking protection orders under the Stalking Protection Act 2019 and the Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme (Clare’s Law)
Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance’s whole housing approach toolkit and housing first projects
spousal immigration rules for victims of domestic abuse and the destitution domestic violence concession
legal aid for people experiencing domestic abuse
Face to face training also covers topics including polygraph testing, up-skirting, female genital mutilation (FGM), forced marriage, revenge porn, non-fatal strangulation or suffocation and cross-examination
What you'll learn
At the end of this training, you'll be able to:
recognise the pros and cons of different housing options, the importance of risk assessment and a tailored response to meet the needs of clients
understand the different legal options and legal aid entitlements available to people affected by domestic abuse
explain how clients made homeless by domestic abuse may be able to make a homeless application and the law that applies
check which clients are eligible for housing and benefits support, plus options available to those with no recourse to public funds (NRPF) living in the UK on spousal visas when their relationships breakdown due to domestic abuse.
refer clients to specialist organisations who can provide support
Face to face training will explain how to make an application for a non-molestation order or an occupation order on behalf of a victim of abuse.

You might find it helpful if you've had previous training in domestic abuse awareness, but this is not essential.
You might work in a role where you advise or support people who are experiencing or have experienced domestic abuse.
