Everything you need to help us campaign to make ending the housing emergency a top priority this general election.

What is the Vote for Home campaign?

If we want a fairer renting system and the social homes we need, we must use our power as voters to force politicians to take housing seriously this general election.

We need your help to do this and there are lots of ways you can support our campaign.

How Amanda campaigned for real change

I was homeless living in temporary accommodation, and Shelter supported me into a proper home. I didn’t want anyone else to go through what I did, so I campaigned with Shelter. I handed in a petition and spoke to my MP. As a result, the government has committed to unfreezing housing benefit from April 2024 to help stop rising homelessness.

Shelter campaigner Amanda handing over a petition in a black folder to parliament saying '90,000 Shelter supporters have called on Rishi Sunak to take action on homelessness'.

Our manifesto

The Way Home, our manifesto, sets out the solutions to the housing emergency. It was created by people with direct experience of housing problems from across the country, and it asks party leaders to:

  • build a new generation of social homes

  • make renting affordable

  • raise standards in rented homes

  • strengthen housing rights

Use our manifesto to build your knowledge so that you can campaign effectively and talk with confidence about the solutions to the housing emergency.
