My Health Matters Manchester

Shelter - My Health Matters was launched in 2024 to tackle the severe health inequalities faced by people experiencing homelessness.

Individuals who are homeless often encounter systemic, social and practical barriers to accessing healthcare. These barriers can lead to poor health, reduced life expectancy and further disadvantage.

A dedicated team in our Manchester hub works in partnership with The Michael Bishop Foundation.

The project has:

  • improved health outcomes

  • built trust within local communities

  • addressed systemic barriers that perpetuate inequality

Our peer-led approach ensures lived experience is at the heart of the service. We are helping people gain confidence, access care and move towards stability.

The aim of this vital work is to support more people who face multiple disadvantages to receive the healthcare and advice they urgently need.

Our partnership with The Michael Bishop Foundation is fundamental to delivering this project in Manchester and Salford.

Their pledged support ensures the My Health Matters team can provide essential services to vulnerable and excluded communities. Together, we are significantly reducing health inequalities and helping people who are homeless to rebuild their lives.

We’re here for everyone, but only with your help
