If you do not have to pay rent
You do not usually have many rights if you are not on the tenancy agreement.
You live there with the tenant's permission and can be asked to leave.
If the tenant is happy for you to stay, the landlord cannot usually ask you to leave.
But the landlord could ask the tenant to make your leave.
For example, if it's overcrowded or the tenancy agreement says no one else can live there.
Married or civil partners
You have rights even if you are not on the tenancy agreement.
Your married or civil partner cannot make you leave unless they go to court.
The landlord cannot evict you without going to court unless they live there too.
