Shelter responds to government announcement of £3.5bn funding to help end the 'cladding scandal'

Shelter has responded to the government announcement of a further £3.5 billion to help end the 'cladding scandal'. Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government Robert Jenrick MP said leaseholders in high-rise blocks (above 18 metres) will face no costs for cladding remediation work. Those in low and medium-rise blocks will never have to pay more than £50 a month for cladding removal work. To help fund the scheme, the government will impose a new tax on residential property in the UK.
