Cambridge Students' RAG appeal embarked on a cross country tour to raise money for Shelter in early December.

Over a week they travelled between Cambridge, Ipswich, St Albans, Reading, Guildford and Salisbury to hold collections, culminating in a day of fundraising on the London Underground on Friday 11 December.

Pembroke College Choir also sang and entertained the shoppers at Knightsbridge tube station.

Around 25 students volunteered and were involved in the event, dressed up as elves, reindeers and santas, and collected an amazing £10,593.13.

Hannah Lumb, Shelter's Community and Events Manager said ‘We are extremely grateful to everyone involved at Cambridge University RAG Society – it takes a huge amount of organisation, time and effort to plan for a week long tour of street collections and not only does it raise a massive amount of money for our important work, but also awareness of our vital services.

'All the wonderful volunteers braved the cold weather with smiles and enthusiasm, dressed as elves and reindeers. They added to the festivities and I am sure they brightened up a lot of peoples days too!  Thank you so much again.’
