Food fundraising ideas

The kitchen is often the heart of a home – a place to cook, share food, and spend time together.

Could you use your food skills to help create that sense of home for others? Organise a bake sale, host a tasting evening, or set up your own food challenge.

The money you raise helps us fight for the right to a safe, stable home for everyone.

Fundraising ideas

  • bake off – who is the next Star baker?

  • wine tasting - no and lo options are available too

  • coffee art competition – who could be the next barista

  • host a dinner party (with recipe ideas from those supported by Shelter)

  • blindfold taste testing – see if you can tell you can tell your stilton from your edam

  • Come Dine With Me – who goes home with the prize?

  • tuck shop – everyone needs a little treat

  • gingerbread person decorating – for the artistic amongst you.

  • host a barbecue – get sizzlin’!

  • feeding frenzy – get your team mates to provide a slap up spread for yourselves and the opposition

Fundraising tips

  • holding a dinner party or food sale? Ask your guests to donate what they would have spent in a restaurant or café

  • use your networks. Some people might prefer to help cook or bring baked goods to sell, others may prefer to donate

  • be safe. Research food hygiene and ask people about allergies in advance

  • make it a competition – ask people to bake the best cake to win
