Growing up in social housing, I witnessed the devastating effects of poor housing. This motivated me to support a cause that focuses on housing rights. The flexibility Shelter offers means I can balance volunteering alongside a full-time job.

I loved cheering for Team Shelter at the London Landmarks Half Marathon in 2025. The Shelter staff were super passionate about their runners and their cause, and everyone was so friendly and welcoming. I felt like I was doing my bit to fight against the housing crisis by being there. I look forward to cheering with them again!

There are many roles available. Our housing rights, legal and support teams depend on volunteers, and we're often looking for people to plan new events and run bucket collections.
Once you've found a role on our website that appeals to you, we'll support you to love volunteering as much as Tharmiga and Dean.
