No family should have to rebuild their life alone
Georgia and her eight-year-old son, Thomas, became homeless after her marriage broke down. They had to say goodbye to their home and pets, and move into a cramped motel room.
The upheaval and instability took a toll on their mental health. Thomas became withdrawn, often in tears and reluctant to go to school.
The first week I was in absolute shock […] I was just crying every day.

Georgia contacted the council but was told she was 'intentionally homeless' and wouldn't be helped to secure suitable accommodation.
Georgia reached out to Shelter. With the support of Dave, a legal adviser, they built a strong case and successfully challenged the decision.
After months of uncertainty, Georgia and Thomas finally got the keys to their social home where they could rebuild their lives.
Together, we can stand with families like Georgia's
