Donate this winter and help families facing homelessness
Last Christmas at least 136,000 children were homeless
For thousands of people across the UK, this has been a difficult year. But this winter, many will face the added challenges of being stuck in unsuitable, unsafe temporary accommodation, or the very real prospect of losing their home altogether.
This Christmas, Nationwide Building Society is fundraising for Shelter*. With your support we could help find families in need a safe place to call home.
All the money raised will help us be there for people like Simon and his family.
*5% of money raised will be donated to Shelter Cymru in Wales and 5% to Housing Rights in Northern Ireland
Help Simon and his family
The clock was ticking for Simon and his young family. They were being evicted from their home and due to the pandemic they couldn’t find a new home in time.
They had never been late with their rent or had any problems with their landlord. Even so, they were being forced to leave and panic was starting to set in. Despite their best efforts, they weren’t making any progress in their search for a new home. There were just too many other families, just like them, competing for the same few affordable homes.
As eviction day loomed, getting increasingly desperate, Simon reached out to Shelter. We understood the family’s struggle all too well and gave Simon the expert advice he needed. With our help, Simon was able to get his family on the housing register and they are now settled in a secure social home.
We give people hope through expert advice and support. But we can only do this with your help. Will you give now?
20 years of partnership
We’re so proud to be celebrating 20 years in partnership with Nationwide Building Society.
Together, we've been changing lives for two decades, working with the shared belief that everyone needs a safe and secure home. Thanks to the support of Nationwide colleagues and members, our partnership has helped more than 100,000 people dealing with unsafe housing and homelessness, influenced housing policy change and raised £7 million.
In our twentieth year, we want to continue to help people giving their all to find a safe home. Thank you for your support.
Donations won’t be restricted to any single project but will be used by Shelter wherever they’re most needed in our fight to defend the right to a safe home..
