Defend the right to a safe home

A woman runner passes the cheer point at the London Marathon and waves. She is wearing a Shelter vest that reads 'Home is everything' on the back.

Your support makes all the difference to people facing homelessness or unsafe housing. For example, your £2,000 fundraising pledge could:

  • fund 68 calls to our emergency helpline

  • pay for legal advice to help 12 families in crisis keep their home

  • help upskill new advisers to support people through complex housing issues

'The support from the Shelter team was amazing. Thank you very much for the opportunity to run a great marathon for such a worthwhile cause.'

Frequently asked questions

How do I fundraise for my event?

We're here to help with any fundraising queries and are more than happy to talk through ideas with you. We recommend starting by setting up a fundraising page on JustGiving.

Our top fundraising ideas include bake sales and pub quizzes. You can find all our fundraising resources here, including our paper sponsorship form.

Reaching my fundraising pledge

We’re here to support you with your fundraising as much as possible. Get in touch by emailing running@shelter.org.uk or call us on 0344 515 1190.

Not reaching your fundraising pledge impacts what Shelter can achieve, so please make sure you're confident in reaching this target before signing up. The deadline for sending in the funds you've raised is six weeks after event day.

Raising a minimum fundraising pledge

It's important to raise a minimum fundraising pledge, as we invest in places at charity events. Each place is important to ensure we raise as much as possible to support our vital work.

You can reach your pledge through sponsorship from family, friends and colleagues, plus other forms of fundraising such as bake sales or quizzes.
