The Great North Run is widely considered to be the greatest half marathon in the world. Since the first starting pistol sounded in 1981, over a million runners have passed over the Tyne Bridge – heading towards the beach-front finish at South Shields.

We want you to tread in their footsteps and run this iconic race for the thousands of people facing homelessness.

The housing crisis is now a national emergency. We believe that a safe home is a fundamental need and basic moral right. By fundraising for Shelter in the Great North Run you can join the fight to defend that right.

Every mile run, every drop of sweat, and every pound raised will make a difference.

Thanks for a great day #TeamShelter and the amazing cheer squad at 8 miles! It was a hot one but a belting day and that run along the seaside at the end.
