A corporate partner of Shelter
In 2021, we launched our partnership with Societe Generale. This partnership funds the expansion of our GROW (Getting Real Opportunities of Work) programme and has raised over £1 million so far. Watch our YouTube video to find out more about Societe Generale's impact.
People who experience homelessness often face huge barriers when trying to enter employment. The GROW programme aims to break down these barriers and offers 12-month paid traineeships. In their roles, trainees are empowered to use their unique perspective to transform our services and help even more people in need.
'With the generous support of Societe Generale, we can expand our successful GROW trainee programme and provide paid employment opportunities to even more people. These fantastic traineeships enable people to use their experiences of homelessness to support others and inspire change, while growing their own skills and confidence. We cannot wait to welcome more people on board.'
– Polly Neate, Chief Executive of Shelter
Societe Generale's partnership will fund 41 new GROW trainees over five years. These GROW trainees have access to personal support, skills training and career opportunities. Ultimately, they can overcome barriers brought on by their lived experience of homelessness and progress into permanent employment. This is thanks to the generous support of Societe Generale staff, company donations and matched funding by the SG UK Foundation.
