Options for people who need accommodation urgently because they are homeless or about to become homeless.

Current accommodation

A client may have rights to stay in, or return to, their present accommodation, but might not want to do so. 

Local authority emergency help and housing

A client may have rights to be housed immediately by a local authority housing department or social services department.

Hostels and nightshelters

There are a variety of different types and sizes of hostels run by public and private sector landlords and voluntary organisations. 

Support for rough sleepers

Advice and support when a client’s only immediate option is sleeping out, and connecting rough sleepers with appropriate services.
