Your run fuels the fight for home

An excited woman running in a Shelter vest, surrounded by other runners. She cheers and points both fingers in the air in celebration as she passes supporters.

When you run a marathon for Shelter, you're defending the right to a safe home for everyone.

For example, your £1500 fundraising pledge could:

  • fund 65 webchats for people facing homelessness so they know their rights

  • fund over 50 calls to our emergency helpline

  • pay for legal advice to help nine families in crisis keep their home

Fundraising for Shelter

We recommend you start by setting up a fundraising page on JustGiving and asking friends, family and colleagues to sponsor you. You can also organise an event such as a bake sale or quiz. See our fundraising resources for more inspiration.

Please make sure you’re confident in reaching the fundraising pledge before you sign up. We invest in places at charity events and need to raise as much as possible for our fight against housing injustice.

Our friendly Events team are on hand to support you with your fundraising. If you have a question or want to talk through ideas, email running@shelter.org.uk or call us on 0344 515 1190.

Optional questions are used to get a better overall picture of your application, so please complete them where you can. For example, it's helpful to have your phone number in case we need to call you to clarify your answers.

Please note, we've had feedback the vests come out quite small so please consider selecting a bigger size than you normally would.
What vest fit would you like?
Fitted tops are a tighter fit, non-fitted tops are a looser fit. The labels in the tops don't currently use gender-neutral language. Fitted tops are labelled as women's and non-fitted tops are labelled as men's.

Not sure which fit or size? See our size guide.

Please note the outcome of your application will be decided based on your answers to the following questions.

Please provide as much detail as possible to increase your chances of being offered a place.

We'd love to hear about events that you plan to organise, workplace fundraising, direct donations, matched giving through your company and anything else that will help you reach your target
